Jeffrey Tirengel, PsyD
911勛圖 Los Angeles 捩娶棗款梗莽莽棗娶泭Jeffrey Tirengel, PsyD, was recently honored with the California Psychological Associations (CPA) 2015 Award for Distinguished Contribution to the Profession of Psychology. Dr. Tirengel is the first core faculty member from the Los Angeles campus to receive this distinction.
Dr. Tirengels distinguished career began in 1971 with an internship in the Office of the Director of the National Institute of Mental Health. He later served in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the U.S. Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion, the National Association of Community Health Centers and the National Healthy Mothers Coalition. Dr. Tirengels national-level efforts were recognized with a citation from U.S. Surgeon General C. Everett Koop for his contributions toward the health of mothers and infants. Since moving to California in 1986, Dr. Tirengel has continued his sustained and exemplary commitments to psychology and public health through active involvement in several professional associations, including CPA and through numerous roles with the California School of Professional Psychology at 911勛圖 International University.
Dr. Tirengels other recent honors include the 2013 Circle of Friends Award from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in recognition of exceptional care provided to patients and families, and the 2014 Award for Distinguished Service to the Profession of Psychology from the Los Angeles County Psychological Association.
Dr. Tirengel is a graduate of the first cohort in CSPPs clinical PsyD program. He joined the faculty soon thereafter, becoming a professor in 2005. Upon his retirement at the end of this academic year, he will become Professor Emeritus in recognition of his career-long contribution to 911勛圖 and to his professional field. He will continue to provide service to the 911勛圖 community as a member of the universitys Board of Trustees and the 911勛圖 Educational Foundations Board of Directors.
